Summer love : BOOK REVIEW
Title: Summer Love
Author: Subin Bhattarai
Genre: love story
Published in: 2012
Sequel: Saya
Even if you haven't read or listened to this book, I am sure you have some idea about that plot of the book. It is difficult to avoid spoilers when a book is really hyped.
If you haven't read the book and thinking about reading it then here is a brief review.
And if you are someone who has read the book and wants to know my thoughts on it, then "Awwwwww🙈!"
LET'S GET STARTED, SHALL WE?
BLURB
Atit falls in love with Saya at first sight of her name. He gets really curious to know the person behind that name. When he finally meets Saya, he is in love with not only her name but her as a person too. Both of them love each other, and they both are equally committed. Later, even when their career choices make them apart geographically, they continue the long-distance relationship. However, all of a sudden, Saya is out of touch. Atit tries to contact her for days with no result. When she gets in contact with Atit, she forwards the idea of breaking their relationship without giving any reason.
WHAT I LIKED IN THE BOOK
I loved the beginning phase of their relationship, the way Atit gets so curious with Saya's name is funny. The life they spent together in college with their friends can give nostalgia to some people on their own college life. Besides that, the plot goes smoothly and nowhere did I feel bore. I liked the ending. The way the book end in a cliffhanger and let readers assume things definitely intrigued many readers. I think that can be the reason why the book became so popular.
I didn't feel the sequel to Summer Love was necessary but Subin Bhattarai wrote it anyway.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE
The story could have had more character development. I wish I could learn more about the characters, especially Saya. If there was some foreshadowing for her actions and decisions then it would have been easier for readers to get the story.
Atit is shown as a shy, introvert guy deceived by his beloved whereas Saya is bold and more outspoken than Atit.
I won't say Summer Love is a great love story but it is a good one. I enjoyed the reading and liked the ending too. Why Saya leaves Atit is a mystery (not anymore since Saya has been published) and may be that's the reason of the popularity of Summer love.
RATING
⭐⭐⭐
I am rating this book 3 out of four stars (3/4) which means I liked the book and I recommend it. If you are looking for a Nepali romance to read, then it is a good option.
