9 ways to beat reading slump

Reading Slump is truly the worst nightmare for bookworms.

It makes you feel guilty which I think is the worst feeling of all. And sometimes you even doubt if you're truly a book lover.

It can be there for days, weeks, months or even years!

But the good thing is it can be defeated. You can punch it right on it's face and move on with your readings.

I have listed 9 tips and tricks on how to beat reading slumps. Thanks to all the bookstagrammers for providing these tips and helping each other out.

Not necessarily that it's going to work for everyone. Just find your favourites one and use it.

1. Re-read your all time favourite from the shelf:

We all have this one book which we know we're going to enjoy no matter what. It could be anything. Just take it out from the shelf and dive into it.

2. Grab the light-hearted one:

There are some books which are so simple and light that you don't have to put much effort at all. Books that have lucid language, few characters and simple plots can be very helpful.

3. Try short stories :

Short stories are the favolous way to get rid of reading slump. Since the length is short, they don't even take  time to finish it. You can finish them in a single sitting and still enjoy it.

4. Be a kid :

What I mean to say is read kids' book because they are fun and witty. I can never get over kids' book. I love the humours, kids book have and makes me wish to time travel and be a kid again (only if that was possible). Jonny B. Jones, Diary of a wimpy kid and Judy Moody are some of my favourites.

5. Switch things up:

It can be monotonous to read the same kind of books, so switch up either genre or style and even authors. If you've been reading fantasy, you can go for chick lit or young adults. It's always good to mix up genre, it also helps to explore more books from different genre.

6. Take break from your phone:

Do you talk about books a lot instead of actually reading them?
I've been guilty of spending too much time on bookstagram and not actually reading the books😅. Makes me wonder how a simple rectangular device with some batteries and software can actually distract you from living your life and doing important tasks.
Don't let your phone come in between books and you.

7. Read fan-fictions :

I didn't know about it before but when a bookish friend mentioned it, I had to google it.
When a book or series has a big fan base then, fans make up and write stories based on the characters and settings of the book, this is called fan fiction. You can find them on Internet.
Harry Potter has lots of fan fiction. It sounds really interesting.

8. Watch movies or TV series :

This is what I actually did during my reading slump. I watched movies adaptation of books that I already read. I won't say that it was all satisfactory because I really hated when they cut of my favourite parts and important scenes from some books

9. Take a break:

Sometimes, all you need is a break. It's okay to take break and come back later. Books are going nowhere. They will always be there for you. Go out, make friends, talk to people, do what you like to do and come back when you feel better.

I hope it'll be useful for you to beat the reading slump.

Take your time and find the one that works best  for you.

Happy Reading!
🖤
